7-11-09   FIRE WORKS MEETING

Hey, here we are again. Meeting 2 and looking for a better time tonight. Tony had make some mods to the steering system so was going to be a bit of a trial night and try some differant set ups. (gota get rid of this under steer prob)

Race 1: First up best dressed was the order so Tony jumped into bout grid 5. got a good start as userual  and the bloody thing was still pushing. Guess it didn't help that it spat the power steer belt and ended up with a spin. All good :)

Race 2: Again up the front and after a small tweek on set up it still pushed on the wet track but came right about 1/2 race. Still not good enough so back to the pits and tweek some more.

Race 3: Ok lets try poll. Will this was great got a great start and were in the lead and Rinso 31 is hard on Tonys but. Managed to  get a good lead (bout 1/2 back stright) until a red came on. Green on and the clutch slipped and that was the lead gone. 218 chasing and took a swing but it didn't stick. Right rear started going flat so handleing turned to custard.
It didn't last the distance so gave up and race over. O well managed to quer handeling problems so misson accomplished.

All in all a good night.
New clutch in and a few minor fixes and were ready for 28th Nov meeting.

See ya there. :)

31/10/09   OPENING MEET

Ya Hoo  The long awaited speedway fix

Well what a long 6 mths its been. All the team hanging out for that fix we so long for.  New colour and a little freah up on bits and bobs and were here. Managed to get a quick practice in at WP couple of weeks back and found a small engine Prob but not to major.
Race 1: We had grid 5. Great, got a good start and the pace was hot from there on. The car decided to push which is a 1st for us and lost a lot of ground swinging wide as we had pace other than that. Tony got tagged as a result and ended up facing the wrong way. He decided to move fwd to the wall for safety as traffic was heavy and was trapped there. DNF.  "49h report to the tower" was the call. Got pinged for dangerous driving. Hard call as he only moved 2 car lengths against the traffic to get off the race line for safety reasons. O well thats how the officials saw it.

Race 2: Grid 20 Again had a great start and on the pace. moving up through the field and got tied up with a scap going on with 2 others and ended our run with a flat and broken steering box mount. DNF

O well thats racing (still hate that term) albeit tony is raped with the pace the car has and looking fwd to next week.

Catch ya all then.

21/03/09 Waikato Stockcar Champs

Man, its been so long since we been racing. With rain offs and just not been able to get to the track for one thing or another.
We were all keen for that fix.
With only a 1st race qualifying and a reparcharge to get to the finals it was going to be a tall ask (and a little luck) with so many cars. (50 odd and 2 groups to get down to a 30 car final).
A good grid draw was always going to help and Tony plucked grid 3. Well that would be a good start but it all turned to custard on turn 1&2. Got turned around and that put Tony at the back. A couple of laps in and he was in the wall on turn 2.
That race was short as the timing stuffed up and was only 8 laps so a rerun was ordered. Talk about a GET OUTA JAIL CARD.
Take 2
Got off to a good start and was holding his own but loosing it out of the turn 2. Next Tony pulls off with a slipping clutch.
O well there is always the reparcharge. Small clutch adjustment and were all go.
Grid 16 so a little work to do. The pace was hot and the hits were coming thick and fast. The clutch was still slipping so Tony called it a night. Figured the clutch was enough to fix before the next and last meeting of the season that going out and swinging was not a good idea.
The rest of the nights racing from the hill was great to watch and congrats to Aaron 218h and Rinso 31h for a great run off for 1st and 2nd. Great to see 2 H cars out there doing it and to all the H blockers that  kept the visiters at bay, Well done.
Till next time..........

Well here we are at the big WP. The only visiting car in a 26 car field. Not knowing how we was going to be accepted but what the hell, Tony was keen as to get track time. The one goal was to complete all 3 races and drive the car on the trailer after the last. Driver instructions, "PATIENCE"
Race 1- Grid 8 got off to a good start, Got in a couple of good laps and was making some ground. Took a hit on the last lap on the back straight taking out left front tyer  and  flicking power steer belt off. Steering locked up and just about took out the water truck in the infield. game over.
Race 2- Grid 16 Hey Tony no points so go out and swing have some fun. Na was the ansewer and a good choice too. Bit more tuition on mastering this track and Tony was making some good ground finishing 6th. Hey now where in the points albeit 15th over all but in the money. Said car was back firing and loseing power at the end of the stright. I know just were to look but not divulging that one.

Race 3- Grid 7 Go out and swing this time? Na race and see how we go was the answer. And race he did, Had made a couple of tweeks to the settings and this paid off and was up on the pace real good. Ended up 6th and 10th overall for the night.

And got to drive it on the trailer after the last race.

Goal acccomplished. Tony was rapped.

Next meeting for us will be Waikato Champs 14th Feb at home. Looking forward to that.

See ya there

10/01/09  NZ MINISPRINT CHAMPS.

First up Happy New Year to all you site scanners out there.
This was our first meeting for a while as the last planed meeting before xmas Tony had injured his back so was unable to compete let alone get through the window.
Scruineering: Well what can one say. On a NZ Champ meeting it's not the time to go into bat about rules etc. Just to many Red hats around. LOL
The scales were there so we were interested in what the car weighed. Only interested ok. Well all I'm saying is we have gained 50kgs from I don't know were. Nothing has changed. I even jumped on the scales. I know I have put on some weight but those scales LIE. So much for weighing cars for a championship.
Any way on with the racing.
Race 1. Grid 5 and off to a good start. Rinso 31h was soon past in his new V6 flyer. And we dropped back a little. Car was handling good and Tony was coming on the pace well. 31h headed hard at the wall and that put us in 4th and then finished in 3rd place. Best finish yet.
Race 2. grid 15. Going to have to work a little harder from here.
Lite rain was falling but not to bad. 1st lap was a bit slippery but drivey in places. Tony had a 1/2 spin and lost a lot of ground but got back on the pace and made up what he lost. Turtle had a flat so Tony went to go around him and he took a swing and got him into the wall. This broke the steering and another DNF was had. Turtle now owns 2 of these steering componants. LOL
The meeting was called after that as the rain just wouldn't let up.

Next meeting for us will be the Auckland Champs next weekend.

6/12/08  NZ SALOON CHAMPS

I was not able to attend this meeting so here is a little update of this meeting as relaid to me by Tony.
First of all it's been a little while repairing the car since the last outing but all god to go now. During the rebuild of the roll cage damage we were able to lower the cage about 100mm. This car was built for a very tall guy hence the height of the cage etc. Hey looks ante every thing. A few modes to the body may help the look too.
Any ways on with the racing.
Race 1: Track was very wet and no one was going any were fast. 1/2 race and there was some sort of race line starting to form. The car was preforming good and had pace for the conditions. Tony was pleased just to finish this one and drive off the track and not behind the tractor.
Race 2: First up best dressed for grids so tony was out the gate early and took poll. Car was humming and had great pace. Track was good with great drive. This was going good until he was in turn 3-4 and the car went straight ahead full noise into the wall. Tony kinda wondered who had nailed him but turned out was a steering failure. The bumper was too badly bent onto the wheel to make the last races so on the trailer and watch some racing for the rest of the night.

A few repairs this week and we will be back for so more next week.

8-11-08  FIREWORKS  MEETING
Well i.ve heard it all now. I couldn,t crew for Tony  last sat night as I was busy working for the elections. But I.ve seen the damage. Heard it on the grape vine that the driver of 71H made it known that he thought it was me driving the car (the guy with the glasses) 8-) ;D . I haven't driven the car since the 1 race I did at the start of last season. Then the car was sold to Tony. We can say it's been hard on the newby but thats stockcars A. If you have a bone to pick with me then bring it on but be sure you have the right guy first.

Any ways on with the report: (as reported to me)
Race1:-   Grid was about mid field. Car was humming. So differant from last week. Worked his way through the field Then spun it up. Was stuck in the middle of turn 3 & 4 with traffic coming down. At that point Tony lost gear selector for 2nd. (broken) Managed to get 3rd so rejioned to finish albeit well down.

Race2:- DNS. Still in the pits fishing out the broken bit. (and we had grid 1 too)

Race3:- Back of the feild for this 1 and only had 3rd 4th and rev gears. Was going to be hard on the clutch so a very kind Laurie price 66h was jacked up to give us a push off the start. Cheers Laurie. All was going great. Was up to 8th on lap 1 then 6th on lap 2 all good until turns 1 & 2 . Got tagged but Tyson 71h. From what we can make out the right rear tyre poped dugg in and was all over rover. End for end roll. One very stuffed car. check out the pics in photo section.

O well thats stocks A. Man I hate that saying. Always means work and thats a 4 letter word too LOL

See next time.
18-10-08   TWS
                           STOCKCAR STAMPEDE

Well here we are once again, 2nd meeting of the season and most tracks haven't even started yet. (great place this Huntly).
Tony was given his full licence tonight so dip into that hat and pull out that marble.

Race 1:- Grid  3 Got off to a good start and held out for the 1st 4 laps then got spun up by 39h. Down the pack we go. From then on Tony struggled with the cars handling. Not sure what it was. Can only put it down to the track as we hadn't changed any thing .
Finish a lap down but hey, Wasn't a DNF YeHa.

Race 2 :- Grid 16 Lots of traffic here. Mayham every were. Two laps down and on turns 3 & 4 38h had spun mid turn and Tony had no were to go. Tee boned him hard. Uoch that hurt. For both of them. Damage on both cars put them out. Back to the pits and fix the damage for the feature.

Race 3:- Grid 23 Was circulating ok but not happy out there. Handling probs left Tony open to all sorts. 1/2 spun on turn 1 and Turtle nailed the front end. That was enough to stuff the steering. Lucky the car was pointing in the right direction. (Infield)

Bit of a disappointing night for Tony but thats stocks. Back to the shed and repair the damage etc. Lest we got 2 weeks to do it all and back to do it all again.

Cheers :)

11-10-08 OPENING MEETING

Yeha. the season is here. Tripel points up for grabs, not that that was going to be much use to us. Tony being a new driver had to start off the back of the grid all night until the powers to be woulkd issue him his licence.
Mentor programe they called it.
Race 1:- Grid 24. First race nerves and Tony was off.
1st lap and he's up to 19th and all over the place.
Cutting the pole line but circulating until Tony
Thought his clutch was slipping so headed to the
                infield on lap 7.

Race 2:- Yeap Grid 23 on the back again. Green Green
Green and Tony is on a flyer. Was working his
way through the pack quit nicely and
had  pace too. (I knew the new eng had it)
Car was handling great too. Got right up to 7th
and a 2nd fastest lap for the race and right
               rear punchtured on lap9.
Race 3:- Yeap down the back we go. Decided to do some
testing on this one and tried a smaller right rear.
Seemed to be working ok for two laps any way
and the right rear axle parted company and its all
              over rover.

Well a night of DNF's but thats racing and Tony was happy with the car and how it went.
